Wishful Wednesdays.

I am so ready for it to be COLD. It is absurd that it has been 80 degrees during the day here! Allow me to indulge in wishful thinking further by posting the top three trends that I noticed in the September issue of Vogue (Lady Gaga – really??)

1. Animal Prints – this includes: shirts, shoes, bags and coats in excess! It was literally all over every advertisement and photo spread (i.e. Juicy Couture, Christian Dior, Ralph Lauren and Louis Vuitton).

ImageImage

2. Furrrocious Coats – Yes, indeed, PETA is probably already up in arms about this, but luxurious fur coats and vests are back with a vengeance! (Mulberry, Marciano – as shown in the second photo – and Michael Kors all have great examples of furry fashion :))

ImageImage

3. ALL BLACK IS BACK! One of my favorite colors to wear: classy, flattering and chic is the color of choice this fall. Don’t worry about complicated color blocking – you don’t have to! (These beautiful examples of all black ensembles came from DKNY and Belstaff, respectively.)

So now all I need is crisp, cold fall air to keep me from shedding clothing rather than putting it on :)

Until next time folks!

“Yatta!” – A day in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn…

As my roomie is an avid fan of General Hospital, she decided it was high time for her to visit Bensonhurst, where the main character of the show is from. Her two fellow roomies (Emily and I) decided to accompany her for the adventure – after all, who wouldn’t want to see something that is associated with GENERAL HOSPITAL?!

So, without further ado, here is our day in Bensonhurst, a quaint and quiet part of the borough we know as Brooklyn:

I wonder how old this tree is...

Brittanie - "Yatta!! A sign that says Bensonhurst!" (Yes, we're obsessed with Heroes)

At the end of the day, I am one step closer to knowing the Corinthos family a little better…check yes.

Dolma Jewelry

Recently I had the pleasure of attending a private jewelry show for Dolma Jewelry. Ashley, who designs the pearl-clad pieces, had just returned from China (where she designed everything!). I took pics of my favorites…including the bracelet that I bought, which now never leaves my wrist :)

202 and Elenie’s in Chelsea Market

Recently I went out for Sunday brunch with my aunt and Betsey. We chose 202, which is a perfect mix of food and fashion. Surrounded by designs by Nicole Fahri-which were lovely by the way-we each enjoyed a delectable brunch:

French Toast w/ Maple Syrup and Blackberries

Hammy-Cheesy-Eggy Sandwich

Fish Tacos w/ cilantro, lime, and chile

Because we decided we hadn’t had enough starches, carbs, and sugar, we decided to zoom over to Eleni’s, which also resides in Chelsea Market…

epic Obama cupcakes...

Betsey and I chose the German Chocolate cupcakes...SO good

Yes, yes, I know – be jealous :)

AA = Atlanta and Avatar

After being home for a whole of 24 hours, I hopped back in the car with my dad and my brother and drove to Atlanta, Georgia. I love it here. Everyone has this old, southern accent and it’s really exciting.

Anyway, a few weeks ago, when my aunt (who I’m visiting in Atlanta) came to New York, she told me that she was buying us tickets to see Avatar in Imax 3-D when I came to visit her in GA. I said I would go only because she seemed SO adamant about it…but I definitely thought I was going to be bored watching some stupid sci-fi movie. I was TOTALLY wrong. Avatar is possibly one of the most engaging, enthralling, and exciting movies I’ve seen in a loooong time, so check it out. I was even able to handle the geeky 3-D glasses due to the fact that I was completely engrossed in the story.

Okay, onto the goodies. My aunt is a photographer and she shot some pics of muah…Bebe Jacket, Urban Outiftters scarf, Banana Republic black skinnies, and Indigo by Clarks boots:

Enjoyyy

Brian Reyes Internship

So, you are now reading the blog of a Brian Reyes Intern!!!!!! I was really nervous for my interview, but Nasheema, who’s the sales manager, was totally chill and put me completely at ease. The showroom is adorable and everyone seems to be really close knit there. I start next semester :) I will be assisting the president of the company and Nasheema; making sure that the line is being represented well at places like Bloomingdale’s, Saks, Bergdorf’s, Barneys – and of course running oddball errands. It’s an amazing opportunity! His designs are lovely…

In other news, I’m off to a Christmas party in Brooklyn, which is excessively exciting because I adore all things in that area. Have you ever read A Tree Grows in Brooklyn? Well, you should. And while you’re on your way over there on the Subway, listen to “Empire State of Mind” by Jay-Z and Alicia Keys on your iPod or MP3-whatever.

Photo by Carina Chairez (my classmate!!)

peace out…

The Limelight and Burberry

Just found this girl…loves it: COSMICaroline

Also, I was in my girlfriend’s apartment the other night and she had Burberry “Weekend” out. I took a whiff and found that it smelled heavenly. Somehow Burberry remains one of the classiest and most reliable brands EVER.

love love,
